Trek Secures Its
Third Patent
Trek’s IP
solutions receive rapid global recognition and protection as more
countries join the growing list of patent approvals
SINGAPORE, (1 June 2004) –
Mainboard listed engineering solutions provider, Trek 2000
International Ltd (“Trek” or “the Group”) today announce
that its “Email On-the Move” solution has received its first
patent approval.
“Email On-the-Move” is a
software incorporated in Trek’s ThumbDrives that enables users to
save email messages into their personal data storage devices. This
solution allows users to download emails from different computers
without leaving traces in the computers through which they use to
download the emails.
As businesses and professionals
become increasingly mobile, they now have the need to download
emails while they are on the move to stay abreast of their business
developments. Hence the importance of maintaining the security and
confidentiality over these messages is fast becoming key
considerations.
Unfortunately, these security
concerns are frequently hampered by access to computers used for
downloading of emails. With this latest solution from Trek, road
warriors will now have easier accessibility to their emails while at
the same time protecting the confidentiality and integrity of their
messages and information.
The Group has also received patent
rights for its portable data storage solution from Brunei, Eurasia,
Myanmar, Oman and Qatar. The approvals are the latest to join the
growing list of patent protection that Trek has received to date
from Lebanon, Mongolia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Singapore, South
Africa, South Korea and UK.
In addition, Trek’s biometrics
data storage solution has received further patent protection from
countries like Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Eurasia, Iran, New
Zealand, Myanmar, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, South Africa, Syria and UK.
Adding to these 13 countries, patent approvals for the biometrics
ThumbDrive solution has also been granted previously by Bahrain,
Lebanon, Namibia and Singapore.
Commenting on Trek’s developments
today, Mr Henn Tan, Chairman and CEO of Trek said: “We are very
pleased that a growing number of countries around the world are now
recognizing and protecting our library of patents for the solutions
we develop. This is a strong mandate to all our engineers at Trek
and to other creative professionals in the market to assure them
that intellectual property recognition and protection will soon
become a norm rather than an exception in the near future.”
These developments will not have
any significant financial impact on the performance of the Group in
the current financial year.
